Workspace privacy
Updated 1 November 2026. This notice describes the optional learning, project, synchronization and class features in this workspace. Marine Tools is operated by Walterfang Design. Contact: [email protected].
Work stored in your browser
Projects, vessel profiles, captured calculations, workbook notes, answers, review schedules and self-test history are stored in your browser. Calculation inputs are not uploaded by the local learning and project features. Selected backup files and chapter ZIP packages are downloaded to your device; the chapter packages do not contain your account information, saved answers or project records.
Browser storage remains until you remove records or clear the site's browser data. Downloaded files remain wherever you save them. Clearing browser data does not delete a separately uploaded account snapshot or class submission.
Optional account synchronization
The public marinetools.app workspace uses local browser storage. The account and class features below apply only to authenticated deployments that offer these services.
Signing in gives the service an authenticated account identifier. The sign-in platform also supplies an email address; the workspace database uses the account identifier to associate records with you and does not store that email as part of the synchronization record.
Nothing is automatically synchronized when you practice or calculate. If you enable account transfer, choose data groups and upload, the selected records are stored in the hosted workspace database. They can include vessel information, calculation values, notes, learning answers and history. A comparison screen shows which complete records you are transferring. Only your authenticated account can read or replace its snapshot through the workspace API.
The snapshot remains until replaced or deleted using Account sync. Deleting it clears the uploaded content. The service retains your account identifier, revision number and update time as a minimal synchronization record so that an old device cannot silently overwrite a later version.
Classes and submissions
Creating a class stores its owner identifier, name, join code and assignments. Joining stores your account identifier, chosen display name and membership time. Submitting an assignment stores your answers, score, attempt count and submission time. The class owner can see the learner roster and submitted results. Other learners cannot read your submissions through the class API.
Class records remain until removed using the class controls. Leaving a class removes your membership and submissions in that class. A class owner can delete an assignment or the entire class, including the associated submissions. These controls affect the app's active database records. A teacher or another recipient may separately retain an exported grade table or question file.
Hosting, sign-in and online requests
Authenticated workspace deployments use Sites hosting and sign-in infrastructure, with Cloudflare Workers and D1 for the hosted service and database. Visiting a hosted page and signing in can involve technical request and account information handled by those providers. Their processing and retention are covered by the OpenAI Europe privacy policy and Cloudflare privacy policy.
Usage-event reporting is disabled in this workspace. Choosing live weather or maritime tools sends the location or route context needed for that request to the selected data service and its providers. These online requests are separate from optional account synchronization.
Protected deployments require an internet connection. For offline Education, download the selected study package. Local export files remain under your control.
Your controls
Use Data & backup to select and review local exports and restores, Account sync to compare or delete an uploaded snapshot, and Classes & assignments to manage class membership and records. An issue report includes diagnostic context or entered values only when you select those options. Preparing or downloading a report does not send it to support.
